The group is formed in September 1992. It united experienced musicians and talented youth.
Since 2008 the orchestra is headed by Olexander Dragan, Ph.D. in Art History (a chief director of Khmelnitsky regional philharmonic nowadays), a graduate of Lviv National Academy of Music after M. Lysenko and a post-graduate of chair of opera and symphony conducting, a student of the famous professor, award winner of National Prize after Taras Shevchenko, National Artist of Ukraine Yuri Lutsiva.
Since 2016 the chamber orchestra is headed by the graduate of Lviv National Music Academy named after M. Lysenko Taras Martynyk (since 2014 he worked as a conductor of Academic Symphony Orchestra in Khmelnytsky Regional Philharmonic). He was born on 11th of August, 1982 in Novoyavorivsk, Lviv region. His musical education started at the age of 10, first learning to play the clarinet. In 1997-2001 he studied at Lviv State Musical School named after S. Ludkevich in clarinet class (prof. Myron Marish), and in the conducting class as well (prof. Darya Stefanyshyn). In 2001 he entered the Faculty of Opera and Symphony Conducting in Lviv National Music Academy named after M. Lysenko (class of associate professor Zinaida Ostafiychuk), graduated in 2008.
During his studies at Academy of Music he worked as an assistant conductor of the student symphony orchestra, and took an active concert part with the symphony orchestras of the Lviv Opera and Ballet named after S. Krushelnytsky and the Lviv Regional Philharmonic also. In 2006, he became the diploma winner of the IV International competition for young conductors named after V. Lutoslavsky in Bialystok (Poland) and the 1st International competition for conductors named after S. Turchak. From September 2008 till 2014 he worked as a conductor at Donetsk National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after A. Solovyanenko. While working at the theater, he was assistant of principal conductor during the production of opera "Flying Dutchman" by W. Wagner and "Turandot" by J. Puccini.
In 2012 due to his professionalism and high conductive ability, Martynyk Taras was invited to Israel for the production and conducting "The Swan Lake" ballet by Tchaikovsky in different cities of the country. He is a developer of operatic art in Khmelnitsky and initiator of productions of operas on the stage of the Khmelnitsky Regional Philharmonic.
He performed as a conductor of the operas "Tosca" by J. Puccini, "Stolen Happiness" by Y. Mateus, "Nazar Stodolya" by K. Dankevich and "Bogdan Khmelnitsky" by K. Dankevych, "Letters of Love" by V. Hubarenko, operettas "The Bat" by J. Strauss, and cantata "Carmina Burana" by K. Orf. Also on the philharmonic stage "Requiem" by V. Mozart under the command of T. Martynyk was performed. The repertoire of the conductor includes operas, ballets, operettas, symphonic and chamber works.
Repertoire of the orchestra comprises massive, artistically perfect and complicated compositions of ancient and modern authors: А.Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, H. Purcell, W.А. Motzart, G.F. Handel, К. Saint-Saens, G. Bizet, P. Tchaikovsky, Д. Bortniansky, М. Berezovsky, В. Barvinsky, В. Kosenko, М. Skoryk,О. Kozarenko, Ю. Laniuk, V. Kaminsky and others.
Being in the condition of constant search and pursuing dynamic music education activity and outreach of precious classic heritage, chamber orchestra of Khmelnytsky Regional Philharmonic occupies an honored position both in artistic culture of Khmelnytsky and Ukraine.
Numerically insignificant cast of chamber orchestra makes it to be a mobile musical entity that can do concert activity in the farthest corners of Khmelnytsky and some other regions of Ukraine: Vinnitsa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Zytomyr, Volyn.
Orchestra took part in many International and All-Ukainian Festivals: in Regional festival of chamber music in Chernivtsi, festival “Contrasts” in Lviv, orchestra gave performances on a tour in Lithuania, Klaipeda, International Festival «Klaipedos musikos pavasanis», in Poland, Krasno, at International Music Festival, in Sosnovets at ХIХ International Music festival.
